Adeline Stella

Adeline Stella, lovingly known as Addie, was born on November 8th, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York, to George Marano and Carmela (Millie) DiBenedetto Marano. She peacefully passed away on January 13th, 2024, at her home in Staten Island, NY, surrounded by her loved ones. Addie's life was filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vinny Stella, who passed away in 2007. Together, they created a beautiful life and left a lasting impact on their family and community. Addie was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Linda Stella Morigi (Michael) and Sharon Stella, and her son, Vincent Stella (Lucy). She was their guiding light, showing them unwavering support and unconditional love. Her children will forever cherish the lessons she taught them and the memories they shared. Addie's legacy extends to her eight grandchildren, Dana Lacertosa, Michael and Nicholas Morigi, Paul, Christian, and Marisa Spencer, Lauren Guaragno, and Vincent Stella. She adored each one of them and took great joy in watching them grow. Her love and influence will continue to shape their lives. In addition to her grandchildren, Addie was a proud great-grandmother to Valentina and Michael Lacertosa, Cole and Casey Guaragno. She treasured the moments spent with her great-grandchildren and embraced the role of a caregiver and mentor. Family was of utmost importance to Addie, and she cherished her role as an aunt to her nephew, Daniel Mullin. She shared a special bond with him and was grateful for their connection. Addie led a life filled with various hobbies and interests. After moving to Staten Island in 1972 with her husband and children, she became one of the first employees of Macy's at the grand opening. Addie dedicated 45 years of her life working in the Children's and Women's Coats and bathing suits department. Her passion for her work was evident as she helped countless customers find the perfect attire. In 2015, she retired to spend more time with her great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. Her green thumb was renowned, as she was an avid gardener. Addie found solace in her garden, nurturing beautiful flowers and tending to her cherished tomato plants. The outdoors brought her peace and tranquility. Knitting was one of Addie's favorite pastimes. She spent countless hours creating hats, headbands, and ponchos for her great-granddaughter, Val. Her creativity and talent shone through in every stitch, leaving behind cherished heirlooms filled with love. Addie had a deep affection for animals, particularly cats. For over twenty years, she had a faithful companion named Daisy, who brought her comfort and companionship. Her love for the arts was evident in her enjoyment of going to the movies, dining out, and attending Broadway shows, with a particular fondness for Motown and Jersey Boys. She shared memorable shopping trips to Target and Home Depot with her sister and found joy in home renovation projects, no matter how big or small. Addie's adventurous spirit led her to explore various destinations. She created lasting memories with her grandchildren on trips to LBI, the Bahamas, and Rhode Island. She also embarked on numerous cruises and enjoyed the beauty of Woodloch, PA, alongside her sister, Rochel. However, her heart belonged to Upstate, NY, where she spent her summers as a young child with countless cousins, her children, and her husband. The celebration of Addie's remarkable life will be held at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., located on Eltingville Boulevard, Staten Island, NY, USA. Friends and family will gather on January 19th, 2024, at from 2-4 and 6-8 pm with a service to be held at 8:00 PM to pay their respects and share their fondest memories of Addie. Addie Stella's legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those she touched. Her unwavering love, kind spirit, and zest for life will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that her life made a significant impact on the lives of those she loved.
