Carol O'Brien,

Carol Wall O�Brien passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 11, 2018 at her home in West Yarmouth, Massachusetts. She was 86. Born in Brooklyn, New York to Emily Osterberg and Joseph Wall, Carol graduated from Manual Training High School where she met her husband, William O�Brien. Carol worked in business development for BF Skinner Corporation and for Chemstrand. They moved to Annadale, Staten Island in 1959 to raise their family. Carol was a proud graduate of St. John�s University and received her Master�s Degree from Richmond College. After Bill�s passing in 1971, Carol began a teaching career with the NYC Board of Education and taught for many years at both PS 46 in South Beach and PS 36 in Annadale. Following her retirement from teaching, Carol relocated to Cape Cod. She was active in the Discovery Club and was on the Board of Directors of the West Yarmouth Public Library. Her passions were reading and cooking; she enjoyed admiring her garden and loved living on Cape Cod. Carol is pre-deceased by her husband, William D. O�Brien and as well as special friends, Al O�Leary and Bill Dowd. She is also pre-deceased by her sisters, Irene Larsen and Grace Conlon. Survived by children, Dan (Sheila) O�Brien and Connie O�Brien; Grandchildren, Meghan (Kyle) Fischer; Matthew (Katie Gallagher) O�Brien and Jeffrey O�Brien; and Great-grand-children, Quinn and Jack O�Brien. Carol is also survived by 5 grand-puppies, Kya, Charlie, Chewy, Mazi and Dixon as well as a Grand-kitty, Kitty. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce (Robert) Land and a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and former students. Special thanks to her dear friends, Anne and Cliff Metcalfe, Bobbi and Jack Harrington, Pat and Stan Grabowski, and Sheila Esposito for all of their love and support. Calling hours will be on Tuesday June 12 from 4:00pm � 7:00pm at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals in Eltingville, Staten Island and a Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday June 13 at 10am at Church of the Holy Child. Burial will be at Moravian Cemetery. A Memorial Reception will be held on Thursday June 14 th from 3-5 pm at the Old Yarmouth Inn, Yarmouth, MA.
