Carol Zazzera

Carol Zazzera, 89, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Carmel Richmond Health Care Center in Staten Island, New York. Carol lived in the Annadale section of Staten Island. Born in Brooklyn, she graduated from Bay Ridge High School. She married the late Joseph Zazzera in 1957 and started a family of 4 daughters. They were married for 64 years. She enjoyed spending time at the family home in Lake Wallenpaupack and loved her vacations to Wildwood, Lake George and Ocean City. She was a bowler, played card games and bingo and was a member of the YMCA. Carol also coached her daughter's softball teams at the Great Kills Little League and was a member of the South Shore Swim Club. Carol was a founding parishioner of Holy Child Roman Catholic Church. She was the beloved wife to the late Joseph, who passed away in 2021. Loving mother to Marianne Zazzera, Valerie Krause, Susan Strahm and Catherine Zazzera. She was predeceased by her parents, the late Dennis and Elizabeth Murphy. Dear sister to Patricia Paholek and the late Peggy Church and the late Dennis and John Murphy. Her greatest joys were her 9 grandchildren, Kevin Krause, Carolyn McErlean and husband Nick, Katie Pompo and husband Nick, Michael O'Rourke and wife Alexa Lotito, Danielle Petro, Lacey and Jamie Strahm, Christine Zazzera and husband Nick Hirschstein, Lia Zazzera and her 7 great grandchildren Victoria, Nicky, Jordan, Dylan, Michael, Linnea and Joseph. She never missed an event. She loved her sons-in-law, George Strahm, Mike O'Rourke, Jim Krause and the late Mike Scimeme. Carol was blessed to have been surrounded by her family and friends her entire life, '''all roads lead to Sandborn Street''. She will always be remembered and forever loved. In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that donations in Carol's memory be made to The Tunnel to Towers Organization. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at the John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd. (at Eltingville Station), Staten Island, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024 at Holy Child Church located at 4747 Amboy Rd Staten Island, New York 10312. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.
