Charles Maucere

Charles Maucere, 89 (Uncle Charlie) of Staten Island, New York passed away suddenly on Monday, December 29, 2025, at his home surrounded by the decor of his favorite season. Born Wednesday, December 23, 1936 in Staten Island, New York, he was the son of the late Benjamin Maucere and the late Louise Felice Maucere. Charles was the youngest of six siblings, Jack, Benny, Salvatore, Anita, and Louise (all predeceased). Charles was a foreman and proud union member of 32B-J. He had a talent for creating wooden seasonal masterpieces and was thrilled to see his art displayed. In his spare time, he was a passionate player of sports, including baseball, football, and softball, and he was proud of all his athletic accomplishments. He loved coaching and instructing ''his guys''. He led the Staten Island Club of the Deaf Softball team to many championships and was a staunch supporter and proud member of the Staten Island Club of the Deaf. He loved watching the Giants and the Yankees. He loved all animals, particularly his dogs Mary, Lady, and his nephew Chris's dog Spirit. He loved movies, especially old war movies and Christmas movies if they were telecaptioned. And above all, he loved spending time with his family particular playing with his nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and eventually, great great nieces and nephews. Charles was everyone's ''Uncle Charlie''. If you met him you instantly were impressed by his ability to make anyone feel like family. Nicknamed Mr. Christmas, he loved the season of Christmas, having an extensive collection of Christmas villages, trees and decorations that he had amassed for many years, some pieces given to him by his mother in the 1930's. Although he had quite a collection, he impressed upon everyone that the season of Christmas is a holy one where Christ's birth is celebrated first and foremost. Charles is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews- all of whom will miss him terribly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:45 AM on Saturday at St Clare Church located at 110 Nelson Ave Staten Island, New York 10308. Arrangements include private cremation. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, January 2, 2026, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
