Dolores M. Coco

Dolores M. Coco, 85 of Eltingville, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family . Dolores, known as ''Dee'' to her family and friends, was born in Harrisburg, PA. She and her family moved to Great Kills where Dolores grew up. After graduating from New Dorp High School Dolores became a nurse and worked at the Foundling Hospital for many years. When she met her beloved husband, Joseph, they moved to Eltingville where they raised their three children. Later in life, Dolores also worked at Buda Bakers in Eltingville with her daughter, Cheryl. Dolores, who was very active in all her children's activities, coached softball at the Great Kills Little League, was on the Parent Teacher Association at P.S. 42, was a brownie and girl scout leader and was also a den mother with the cub scouts. She herself, enjoyed playing softball and was an avid bowler for many years at Sunset Lanes, which she enjoyed immensely with her friends. Dolores had a strong faith and was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church, where she was also very active in the church choir. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who truly loved spending time with family, especially her grandsons, who she was very proud of. She was loved by many and will be missed by all. ''A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck - Aunt Bitty.'' Dolores was precedeased by her beloved husband, Joseph, who passed away in 2014. She was the loving mother to Doreen Coco Bove, Cheryl Coco (Retired NYC Police Officer) and Joseph Coco. Dear mother-in-law to Robert Bove and Kim Bergh. Devoted grandmother to Robert Bove (Retired Captain - U.S. Army), Cara Bove, Bryan Bove (Retired Captain - U.S. Army) and Devin Bove, and cherished great grandmother to Nathan Bove. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2020, at The John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd. (at Eltingville Station), Staten Island, New York. A Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2020 at the Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dolores memory to the Alzheimer's Assocation or Wounded Warrior Project would be greatly apppreciated.
