Doreen Dollen

Doreen Dollen (nee Gogarty), 72, passed away peacefully on Jan 25, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer. Doreen was the devoted and loving wife of Robert Dollen. They recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary hosting a party, surrounded by cherished family and friends. She was the beloved and precious sister of Patricia Giammarino and her husband Tommy Giammarino, and Thomas Gogarty and his wife Trisha Gogarty. Doreen was a loving mother figure and aunt to Michael Ferraro and his wife Courtney, and a doting Grammy to their children Michael, Christian and Thomas. She was the affectionate sister-in-law of Barbara and Sal Lapetina and Lorraine and Kevin Daly. ''Aunt Dee'' was the treasured aunt of Thomas Giammarino and Suzanne and Matthew Reno, as well as Amanda Gogarty, Thomas Gogarty, Dominick Ferraro and many other dear nieces, nephews, grand nephews and niece. She is survived by her adoring Aunt Eileen Hartman and loving cousins. Doreen was born in Brooklyn on July 16, 1950 to the late Thomas and Viola Gogarty. There she met and married her sweetheart Bob before moving to Staten Island. After spending many happy years and making memorable friendships on Wilson Avenue, Dee and Bob retired to Jackson, NJ in 2020. She enjoyed a long and rewarding career at APL where she was greatly valued, admired and respected by friends and colleagues alike. Doreen was a woman of great faith and a proud member of the Holy Child Choir. She had a passion for life and enjoyed keeping a social calendar. Whether she was babysitting her grandsons, challenging her siblings to who was the smartest, enjoying game nights, dining out, entertaining at home, or attending choir practice, Doreen always enjoyed being in the company of family and friends. She was affectionately known to all as ''Aunt Dee,'' whether related or not, and treated everyone like family. Doreen always saw the best in people and in every situation. Never one to ''sweat the small stuff,'' she could be counted on to be a voice of reason, a shoulder to cry on and a loyal confidante. She will be remembered for her warm smile, generous and caring heart, and playful sense of humor. Her legacy will live on in the abundance of hearts she has touched and lives she has forever changed. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2023, and from 2:00 - 5:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at the John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd. (at Eltingville Station), Staten Island, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrate at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Holy Child Church located at 4747 Amboy Rd Staten Island, New York 10312. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.
