Elmerinda ''Mindy'' Caracappa

Elmerinda ''Mindy'' Caracappa, 87 of Huguenot passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at Staten Island University Hospital North. Born Saturday, November 11, 1933 in Naples, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Nicola Schiano LoMorello and the late Maria (Scotto) Schiano LoMorello. Mindy as she was affectionately known by friends and family was a dedicated wife mother and friend. Social outings with friends and family were her passion. Mindy and her husband were long time members of the Golden Oldies Bowling League. Mindy lived for Cruises and Vacations. She never missed a weekend out having dinner and enjoying the Movies with Her beloved Tom. Mindy was stylish and fashionable and had a true fetish for shoes and handbags, a real legacy that she leaves behind. She was the beloved wife of 66 years to Thomas Caracappa. Loving mother of Thomas Caracappa, Mark Caracappa and Christopher Caracappa. Dear mother in law of Doreen and Cathy Caracappa. Cherished grandmother of Mark Thomas, Maria Elena, and Jessica Claire. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12:30 PM on Monday at Our Lady Star of The Sea located at 5411 Amboy Road Staten Island, New York 10312. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Sunday, January 24, 2021, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. Please be mindful due to the current State mandate that a mask must be worn at all times in the funeral home and social distancing requirements must be followed during the services. Due to the current Pandemic a strict 30 person in room policy is in effect, as well as a maximum of 150 people permitted in Church. Please adhere to this policy and allow others to pay their respects as well. Due to the current pandemic circumstances please note: We do not accept deliveries from outside vendors for bakery products, fruit baskets, and floral arrangements until further notice. Floral Arrangements can be purchased from our in house floral designers who work under the most stringent sanitary conditions which include temperature checks, mask wearing, distancing and protective clothing.
