Giovanni Scozzari

Giovanni Scozzari, 74 , passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021, at Golden Gate Health Care & Rehab. in Staten Island, New York. Born Thursday, January 2, 1947 in Sciara, Italy, he was the son of the late Giacomo Scozzari and the late Giuseppina Mattina Scozzari. Giovanni was also predeceased by his siblings Giuseppina and Filippo Scozzari. Giovanni loved watching NASCAR races on T.V., always rooting on his favorite driver Dale Earnhardt. He also had a love of fishing, where he used to fish with the boat he once owned and also off of the piers in Port Washington. Giovanni always had a soft spot for dogs, which he loved and took care of many throughout his life. He was a great cook, especially his italian food (he made a mean sausage and peppers). He was also known for his awesome rice pudding, which he would always share with his family and friends. He was the beloved husband to Regina. Loving father to James, Alyssa and Mariella. Caring step-father to Diane and Donna. Devoted ''Pamps'' to Nicholas and Victoria. Dear brother to Rose Marie, Maria Euginia and Lucia and fond brother-in-law to John. Giovanni is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. A Funeral Service will be at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Please be mindful due to the current State mandate that a mask must be worn at all times in the funeral home and social distancing requirements must be followed during the services. Due to the current Pandemic a strict 50 person in room policy is in effect, Please adhere to this policy and allow others to pay their respects as well. Due to the current pandemic circumstances please note: We do not accept deliveries from outside vendors for bakery products, fruit baskets, and floral arrangements until further notice. Floral Arrangements can be purchased from our in house floral designers who work under the most stringent sanitary conditions which include temperature checks, mask wearing, distancing and protective clothing.
