Born on October 26, 1956, in Queens, New York, Jack was the beloved son of Sidney and Marion Jarmus. He was a man whose life was a testament to positivity, humor, and love—a beacon of light to all who knew him. A devoted husband to his wife Cathy. Together, they built a family rooted in love and laughter, raising two sons, Justin and Christopher. As his family expanded, Jack welcomed with open arms his daughters-in-law, Sara and Jennine, and reveled in the joy of being "Pop" to Logan and Sylvia, his treasured grandchildren, who brought boundless joy to his life. A man of many passions, Jack's interests were as diverse as they were heartfelt. A lifelong enthusiast of the Grateful Dead, his love for their music spanned six decades, providing a soundtrack to his life's journey. Jack's fondness for VW Beetles was well-known, and his enthusiasm for these iconic cars mirrored his vibrant personality. A lover of dogs, Jack's home was filled with the warmth of his long-time four-legged companion, Charlie, who he considered family. Jack's presence was a cherished fixture in his community, from the aisles of Costco to the deli counter at Top Tomato or the snack stand at Mid Island Little League. While walking and talking his way through 10314, Jack's friendly nature and sharp wit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Known for his sense of humor and a touch of sarcasm, Jack's positivity was infectious. He had an uncanny ability to lift spirits and brighten days, a quality that endeared him to friends and strangers alike. His openness and warmth created a welcoming space for all, a testament to his generous spirit. In his final days, Jack faced a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by the love and support of his family. His strength and resilience were a true reflection of his character, inspiring those around him to cherish every moment and live fully. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jack's memory to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN), an organization dedicated to the fight against pancreatic cancer.
