John Nunes

John Nunes, 62 of Parlin, New Jersey passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021, at Centra State Medical Center in Freehold, New Jersey. Born Monday, March 2, 1959 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the beloved son of Joan and the late John Nunes. He was the devoted and loving husband for almost 40 years this coming August to his wife Debra Nunes nee Vitale. John lived in Staten Island before moving to New Jersey with his family. He was a graduate of Tottenville High School. John was a member of Local 1 and worked as an elevator mechanic for Hudson Elevator. He put his family before himself and worked hard to give them everything they needed and wanted. He enjoyed baking, cooking, working on cars and watching the NY Yankees. Above all, John loved his family and truly cherished the time he spent with family and friends, especially his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Debra, his cherished mother Joan, his mother-in-law Jean, his loving children John(Elaina), Desiree (Robert) and Jamie, his dear brothers Richard and Michael, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, and adoring grandchildren John, Ava, Leo, Olivia, Mia and Severus along with many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Holy Child Church located at 4747 Amboy Road Staten Island, New York 10312. Arrangements include private cremation. The family will receive friends from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to the St Judes Children's Research Hospital. Please be mindful due to the current State mandate that a mask must be worn at all times in the funeral home and social distancing requirements must be followed during the services. Due to the current Pandemic a strict 50 person in room policy is in effect, as well as a maximum of 300 people permitted in Church. Please adhere to this policy and allow others to pay their respects as well.
