Joseph A Gurrieri March 20, 1932 - April 16, 2025 It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of Joseph Gurrieri, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, friend, and Army veteran. Joseph passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025 in Brooklyn, NY at the age of 93. Born on March 20, 1932 in Brookyn, Joe was a devoted husband to his wife of 59 years, Rose Gurrieri (deceased). He was a loving father to Linda (Gurrieri) Romano (deceased), Joseph Gurrieri and father-in-law to John Romano. His legacy lives on through his son, son-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joe was the proud grandfather of Lauren (Romano) Longo, Joseph Longo, John Romano Jr., Jamie Romano, Danielle (Romano) Dymko and Arthur Dymko as well as the cherished great-grandfather of Celia Longo, Juliette Longo, Vincent Romano, Nicholas Romano, Josephine Longo and Victoria Dymko. His family was the center of his world and he took great joy in the time spent with them. Joe proudly served in the US Army and in the Korean War. This was a defining experience that shaped the man he became. He was retired from the NYC Department of Sanitation where he dedicated 10 years to the city he loved and took great pride in contributing to the daily life of New York City. Joe had a zest for life, enjoying trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City, where he cherished the excitement and adventure. He also created lasting memories during cross-country trips with his family, and these travels remain some of his family's fondest recollections. Throughout his life, Joe was known for his unwavering love and devotion to baseball. He was an outstanding baseball player with a love for the NY Yankees. Joe was drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers however turned down the opportunity due to his dream that one day he would be a NY Yankee. From the days of Mantle and Maris to Jeter, Rivera and Judge, Joe watched each game with enthusiasm and dedication for the team he loved. Though Joe will be deeply missed by his family and friends, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. He was a man of quiet strength, deep love and unwavering devotion to those he held dear. A Funeral Blessing will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at St Clare's Church Chapel located at 110 Nelson Ave Staten Island, New York 10308. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
