Katherine Stetson

Katherine Stetson, 91 of Staten Island, New York passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family. Born Tuesday, January 10, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen Weber. Katherine was raised in Brooklyn and graduated from Bay Ridge High School. As a young woman Katherine loved spending summers vacationing with her family on New Dorp Beach. Katherine worked at Merchants Refrigeration where she would meet and marry the love of her life, Theodore Stetson. They would move to Staten Island where they would raise their family. Katherine was a devout catholic and worshipped at Holy Child Parish. She was active in her children's lives, supporting many of their activities. She especially loved attending their sporting events. She was active in the school PTA and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Katherine was a fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers, she enjoyed going to Ebbitts field to watch them play, and after their team moved she found a new favorite in the NY Mets. In her spare time she enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching old movies. What Katherine loved most however was spending time with her family and her greatest joy was to be with her eight grandchildren. She will be missed by all those that loved her. Katherine is pre deceased by her beloved husband Theodore, and by her brothers, George, Robert, and William Weber. Katherine is survived by her loving children, Paul and his wife Zonnia, Jeffrey and his wife Risa, Douglas and his wife Theresa, Valerie and her husband Robert Knaak and Katherine, by her cherished grandchildren, Nicole, Alyssa, Michael, Brittany, Andrew, Justine, Katherine, and Jacqueline, and by her caring sisters; her twin, Florence Brigande and Helen Meeks. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday at Holy Child Church located at 4747 Amboy Road Staten Island, New York 10312. Entombment will be in Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge, NJ. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, January 13, 2019, and from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Monday, January 14, 2019, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
