Larry Angilletta

There are some people whose presence simply makes life better. Larry passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, at the age of 94, leaving behind a family who adored him and countless friends whose lives were brighter because he was in them. He was born on February 7, 1932, in Caulonia, Calabria, Italy, to Pietro and Teresa Angilletta. As a young boy, Larry crossed the Atlantic by ship with his mother to begin a new life in America, where his father had immigrated years earlier. At 16, Larry met his father in person for the first time, beginning a new chapter in their family's American story. After attending Brooklyn�s New Utrecht High School, Larry attended barber school, where he met the love of his life, Barbara Borgeson. Together they started a family and opened Larry's Beauty Parlor in Brooklyn, working side by side. He later made their home in Staten Island, where he lived the rest of his life surrounded by the family he cherished. As a young man, Larry loved playing soccer and hunting. Later in life, you could usually find him at the gym, tending his garden, or in the kitchen preparing meals to send you home with. He appreciated life's simple pleasures: a dish of macaroni, a cold beer, and perhaps a little limoncello shared with family. But nothing brought Larry more joy than being surrounded by the people he loved. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life. He never grew tired of watching them play, grow, and create memories of their own. He often said how grateful he was and never imagined he would be blessed with so many years to share with them. Those moments filled him with gratitude, and gratitude defined the way he lived. One of Larry's greatest joys came in 2018, when he returned to his hometown in Calabria. Being able to reconnect with cousins and show his family the place where his story began was a dream fulfilled, and a memory he treasured deeply. Larry was predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara, and his siblings, Luigi Angilletta and Rose (Assunta) Varano. He is survived by his children, Susan (Louis) Pravato and Peter (Debra) Angilletta; his cherished grandchildren, Nicholas (Melissa) Pravato, Desiree (Louis) Guglielmetti, and Ava Angilletta; his adored great-grandchildren, Savannah, Autumn, Bria, and Jessa; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved him dearly. To know Larry was to love him. He never complained. He met life with optimism, humility, quiet strength, and an unwavering gratitude for every day he was given. His legacy is measured by the family he cherished, the friendships he nurtured, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness.
