Lauren Rick

Lauren E. Rick, 36, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022 after a three year battle with cancer. Lauren was born on October 17, 1986 in Staten Island, New York where she grew up. After graduating from Tottenville High School in 2004, she moved to Washington, D.C and attended George Washington University, earning a bachelor's degree in business and a master's degree in digital forensic science. In 2010, Lauren began her career with the FBI at the Department of Justice. During her twelve years with the Bureau, she used her knowledge, skills and expertise working as a forensic examiner in the D.C., Florida, California, and New York offices. From an early age, Lauren excelled at sports and played on her high school basketball and softball teams, always being cheered on by her biggest fan, her dad. She treasured the special times spent with him especially at Knicks and Yankees games. Lauren was a certified personal trainer and focused on keeping a fit body and mind by advocating healthy eating, exercise, and meditation. Lauren enjoyed traveling whenever possible and lived in several different cities in the United States. She loved the hot Florida weather, its beaches, sunsets boat rides and being in and around the ocean. Aside from her family, Lauren's greatest joy in life was her Havanese dog, Mila, who showed her pure love, gave her true companionship, and brought her comfort up until the very end. Strong, courageous, determined and always looking forward, Lauren inspired and touched the lives of so many. May her light always continue to shine. Lauren is survived by her loving mother Rosemary Rick; adoring big brothers Michael Rick, Daniel Rick and his wife Christina; cherished nephews John and Thomas; several aunts, uncles, many cousins and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her father Neil Rick. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2023, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Holy Child Church located at 4747 Amboy Rd Staten Island, New York 10312. Private Cremation to follow.
