Maria DeSimone Law

Maria DeSimone Law, 67 formerly of Staten Island passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at home surrounded by her family. Maria was the daughter of the late Tony and Anne DeSimone and was raised in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx along with her brothers Mike and Richie. In 1977 she married her husband Donald Law, also of Throggs Neck, and they moved to New Dorp, Staten Island. Their first home was her late grandmother’s bungalow where her family spent many summers. Maria was a graduate of Lehman High School and also attended the Katharine Gibbs School. Over the years Maria had several jobs which included secretary at Marley Cooling Tower Company and Eden II School for Autistic Children as well as a school bus matron. Prior to retirement she worked for New York Buses and the former Atlantic Express. She loved working with children, specifically those with Autism. After suffering a stroke at the age of 39, she helped co-coordinating the creation of a support group for young stroke survivors at Staten Island University Hospital. For a time she was an active parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea where she was a eucharistic Minister and a volunteer with the youth teen group. Maria took great joy cooking for friends and family. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving which she loved to host. There was always room for one more at her table. The only thing she enjoyed more was spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving and caring woman who will be deeply missed by all who knew and love her. As well as her parents, Maria was predeceased by her beloved husband Donald, her brother Anthony, and sister in law Kathryn Law-White. Maria is survived by her loving children, AnnMarie, Donald and his wife Laura, and Marc and his wife Giuliana, and her five cherished grandchildren, Donald James, Jacklyn, Isabelle, Kayla, and Daniel. In addition her two brothers Michael and Richard and their wives, MaryAnn and Barbara and her brothers and sister in-laws Susan Law-Sbano, Michael & Gerri Law, Mary & Bobby Jackson, and Andrew Law as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at The John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd. (at Eltingville Station), Staten Island, New York. A funeral mass will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at St. Joseph Church, 16 Poplar Avenue, Staten Island, New York. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to a memorial in Maria's name. The family will be placing a bench in memory of Maria on the South Amboy Waterfront a place where family and friends can visit for years to come. Donations will be accepted by the family and used to pay for all expenses associated with this memorial. Thank you.
