Michael Eugene Gibbons, 42 of Edison NJ, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Born Sunday, February 28, 1982 in Brooklyn New York, he was the loving son of Michael Gibbons and the late Linda Gibbons. Michael, raised in Staten Island, graduated from St. Joseph by the Sea High School. He graduated from SUNY Albany in 2004 with a Bachelor’s in Psychology with a minor in Business. Michael followed in the footsteps of his parents working for Con Edison, where he met his wife Priya. Together the family has worked an accumulation of 90 years to the company. Michael was very passionate about his work. He was an expert at organization, spreadsheets, and integrating data. Michael worked at Con Edison for nearly 20 years rising up as an Advance Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Operations Center Manager while earning his Master’s of Science in Business Analytics from NYU in 2019. In his free time, Michael loved to travel. He enjoyed history, cinema, and going into a deep dive into a topic he could then become an educator or debater in. Michael was truly focused on life and family. His daughter and family were his life. He was a life long New York Yankee and Jets fan. He had season tickets to the JETS for over 10 years where he got to spend many happy times with friends. He loved to laugh and find the joy in the special moments. The world is much dimmer without his presence and he has left us way too soon. He was the beloved husband to Priya Patel to which they shared 10 happy years. They met while working at Con Edison and grew together personally and professionally while traveling the world reaching destinations as far as the Maldives, Shanghai, Greece, Egypt, South Africa, California, and beyond. In 2019, they started their family with their dog Rajah and then having their most precious daughter Ariana Linda in 2021. Loving and adored brother of Melissa Sheehy, and Caitlin Ratel. Dear Son in Law to Dilip Patel and Asha Patel. Brother in law to Shyam Patel, Karl Sheehy, and John Ratel. Adored Uncle to Emma, Elizabeth, and Karl. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM for a viewing on Wednesday, March 28, 2024, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc.., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. A Mass of Christian Rite (funeral) will be offered at 10:00 AM on Thursday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church located at 5411 Amboy Road Staten Island, New York 10312. Private cremation to follow A Hindu Blessing Ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 30th 2024 11AM - 1PM. All are welcome please bring photos and stories to share with the family.
