Nicholas DeMolfetto

It is with deep sadness that the family of Nicholas DeMolfetto announces his death on February 25, 2023, at the age of 82. Nicholas was born on July 23, 1940 and lived a long, decorated life. Nicholas was preceded in death by his wife Marietta (Acquafredda) and is survived by his children Joseph and Natalie DeMolfetto as well as his beloved grandchildren Michele, Stephanie, Nicholas, Valerie, Michael, and his great-grandchildren Laura (who he called his ''Stinky'') and Ilijah. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Theodore Sturiale, as well as a myriad of other family including in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, etc. Known for his love of cooking, Nicholas was proud to share his recipes with the family. His passion for cooking is something his loved ones will never forget and always remember with a smile. Nicholas worked as a mechanic in the family private sanitation business in New York City for many years, and also retired from the Army as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 after 35 years of honorable service. Having proudly served his country during Desert Storm, and having traveled around the world, Nicholas had a full and decorated career. Not only did he dedicate himself to his career, but he also enjoyed volunteer work. In fact, Nicholas was an advocate for the local park in his neighborhood. He spent time cleaning up the park, attending meetings, and even planting many trees, including his pride and joy, fig trees. Although he was proud of all that he accomplished, his family will remember his stubborn demeanor and strong will, as well as how truly loving he was. His family will miss him immensely and the lack of his presence in their lives will be felt throughout the years. While Nicholas dedicated his life to so many things, it was his family he cared for more than anything else. Nicholas was an extraordinary man who had courage that inspired us all. For six years, he fought persistently to beat leukemia, with relentless determination and unwavering faith. He also never forgot to express his immense gratitude for the medical staff at Staten Island University Hospital North and The Florina Cancer Center, who provided him the best care and support.
