Pasquale DeSantis

Pasquale De Santis passed away peacefully on April 5th, 2024 at age 89 at his home in Bala Cynwyd, PA , surrounded by his family. He was born in Cansano, Italy on July 25, 1934 to the late Sante De Santis and Maria Donata (Di Gesualdo) De Santis. He completed his education in Italy and then served in the Italian Army's highly regarded specialist mountain infantry, the Alpini. After completing his military service, in 1958 he emigrated to Toronto, Canada where he joined his parents and his siblings, the late Giovanni De Santis, Anna (De Santis) Vertolli, Donato De Santis, and Domenic De Santis. In 1959, Pasquale married Concettina Di Paolo at St. Finbars R.C.C. in Brooklyn, followed by a reception at the St. George Hotel. Pat and Connie were happily married for 65 years. They made their first home in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn and then moved to Staten Island in 1971. Pasquale loved to care for his home and garden and always enjoyed doing all of the work on his own. He had a lifelong love of music and played the guitar for his children and grandchildren. In his retirement, he learned the piano. Pasquale worked for thirty-seven years as a heating and air conditioning serviceman in Manhattan, New York City. He appreciated working independently and never missed a day of work. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 3. Pasquale and Concettina have two children, Maria, married to Charles Roser, and Frank, married to Stephanie Anuszkiewicz. He delighted in his four wonderful grandchildren Maria and Chip's daughters, Vanessa and Catherine, and Frank and Stephanie's sons, William and Christopher. In 2015, Pasquale and Connie moved to Bala Cynwyd, PA, where they lived close to their children and grandchildren, attending many school concerts and graduations and sharing many happy meals together. Friends may visit with the family at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, 28 Eltingville Blvd. Staten Island, NY, on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Thursday, April 11th, 2024 from the funeral home, then to Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 5411 Amboy Road, Staten Island where at 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass will be offered. Entombment will be in the Resurrection Cemetery, 361 Sharrott Ave, Staten Island.
