Peter Kiefer

Peter Kiefer, 84, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, in Staten Island, New York. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Peter was the son of the late Mary and Francis Kiefer. Peter was the devoted husband of Janet Kiefer. Together, they shared a loving marriage filled with travel, adventure, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He was a proud and loving father to Peter Kiefer, Jennifer Mannarino, and Christine Blaich. He was a cherished brother to Frances Nanke and a treasured grandfather. Peter graduated from Baruch College with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He built a distinguished career as a forensic accountant with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where his integrity, analytical mind, and commitment to public service earned him the respect of his colleagues. In addition to his civilian career, Peter proudly served his country for more than 30 years in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His dedication to duty and leadership reflected the values he carried throughout his life. Peter had a wide range of interests and passions. He loved classical music and opera, enjoyed bird-watching, and found great joy in spending time at the beach and in nature. An avid jogger, he also enjoyed camping and traveling with Janet. Peter had a lifelong fascination with history and was always eager for a thoughtful game of ''chess'' with his grandson. A man of deep faith, Peter was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus and a devoted parishioner of St. Clare Roman Catholic Church. Peter will be remembered for his intelligence, kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to his family. He lived a life of service and love, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his wife, children, sister, grandchildren, extended family, and many dear friends. May he rest in peace. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at St. Clare Church located at 110 Nelson Ave Staten Island, New York 10308. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.
