With heavy hearts and profound respect, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Raymond Robert Christensen, who peacefully departed this world on May 17, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on August 19, 1947, in Queens, Raymond was a beacon of warmth and humor to those fortunate enough to know him. Raymond was the cherished son of Raymond and Marion Christensen, and he grew up surrounded by the love of his family, including his late sisters, Joan Ann Pellitiere and Helen Christensen, and his brother, Michael Christensen. He is survived by his devoted wife, Vickie Christensen, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family and created a home filled with laughter and joy. Raymond's legacy continues through his adoring children, daughter Darlene DeFelice and son Raymond Robert Christensen Jr., each of whom was a source of immense pride. He welcomed his daughter-in-law Lisa Christensen and son-in-law Michael DeFelice into the family with open arms, extending his love and kindness to them as his own. The light of Raymond's life shone brightly in his five cherished grandchildren: Joseph Gargano, Joseph Christensen, Jillian DeFelice, Jessica DeFelice, and Emily Christensen. He delighted in their accomplishments and adventures, offering guidance, support, and an endless supply of love. Professionally, Raymond had a distinguished career as a CFO for Merit Oil Corporation, which later became Hess Corporation. Even in retirement, his dedication to service continued as he worked for Access-A-Ride, ensuring that the needs of others were met with care and attention. His professional life was marked by integrity and leadership, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike. Raymond was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, proudly holding the title of 3rd degree knight. His commitment to community service and fellowship was unwavering, reflecting the compassion that defined his character. Beyond his professional and community endeavors, Raymond found joy in life's simple pleasures. He was an avid golfer, softball player, and bowler, and a devoted fan of the Mets, Rangers, Knicks, and the Giants. His love for sports was only matched by his love for sharing these passions with family and friends. Known for his quick wit and infectious humor, Raymond had an uncanny ability to light up a room with a joke or a card trick, making everyone feel included and valued. His kindness and empathy knew no bounds, always offering a shoulder to lean on and a listening ear to all who needed him. Raymond is also survived by his sister Jean Coon, many nieces and nephews, and a multitude of loving friends, all of whom will carry forward his memory and the lessons he imparted. A service to honor and celebrate Raymond's life will be held on May 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM on Friday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church located at 5411 Amboy Road Staten Island, New York 10312. As we gather to say our goodbyes, we remember a man who loved his family and friends dearly. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. To know Raymond was truly to love him. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made in Raymond's memory to a charity of your choice, continuing his legacy of care and compassion.
