Rosemary Summa

Rosemary Summa, a lifelong Staten Islander, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on August 24, 2026. Rosemary was born at Staten Island Hospital and was raised in Tompkinsville, where she lived on Sherman Avenue until 1974. She later resided in Rosebank, where she and her husband, Leonard "Lenny" Summa, made their home and built a life together. Rosemary and Lenny were married on November 5, 1978, and shared nearly 48 years of marriage filled with love, family, friendship, and many wonderful memories. A 1975 graduate of the Fashion Institute High School, Rosemary went on to enjoy a long career in New York City, working for several freight forwarding companies over the course of approximately 40 years. She retired in 2016 after a dedicated and successful career. Rosemary especially cherished spending time with her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Leonard; her son, James, and his wife, Katie; and her treasured grandchildren, Jackson and Rocco. She is also survived by her sisters, Antoinette Morris and Lenora Kiernan, as well as her loving nieces and nephews, Charles Morris, Cheryl Zero, Nina Lucchini, John Lucchini, Joey Kiernan, and Kirsten Pecorale. Rosemary was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Rose Ferone; her sister, Joann Lucchini; and her brother-in-law, Charlie Morris. Throughout their marriage, Rosemary and Lenny enjoyed traveling and creating lasting memories together. They traveled extensively throughout Europe with dear friends Tom and Donna Tierney and, more recently, with Josephine and Joseph Mastrangelo. Rosemary treasured these adventures, the friendships they shared, and the many stories and memories made along the way. Those who knew Rosemary also knew how much she loved to shop. Macy's was affectionately considered her "second home," and shopping was one of her favorite pastimes. Rosemary will be remembered for her devotion to her family, the friendships she treasured, her love of travel, and the joy she found in life's simple pleasures. Her memory will remain forever in the hearts of her husband, son, grandchildren, sisters, extended family, and many friends. A Funeral service will be at 8:00 PM on Friday at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc. located at 28 Eltingville Blvd Staten Island, New York 10312. Arrangements include private cremation.
