Thomas J Manzo

Thomas Joseph Manzo Jr. (Tommy), 81 of Dongan Hills, SI went home to be with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of March 21, 2025. Born on Father's Day June 20, 1943 in Staten Island, NY, he was the firstborn child of Thomas Joseph Manzo Sr. & Anne Mary (Meola) Manzo. Thomas is predeceased by his wife Audrey, his brother Barnard P. Manzo, and brotherin-law Rev. Kenneth P. Morris Sr., Surviving is his son Tre' (Jennifer), daughter Anna-Marie (Russ), 3 grandchildren Gabriel, Madilyn, and Ellie, loving Aunt, Cathrine L. Cangro, sisters Anne Morris, Diane, Michele McCollum, Jean, brother Fred (Luann), 12 nephews & nieces, 15 great nephews & nieces and 1 great great niece. Tommy loved to travel. His adventures started as a boy scout and then later as an explorer. He traveled throughout the United States, Cuba, Mexico and Canada. Tom began writing and singing songs as a young man. His 95-year-old aunt Cathrine (Zizi) shared a recent visit she had with him, saying, "Tommy said, my love for singing, was because my mother would sing around the house all the time." Tom continued writing and singing throughout his lifetime. He was a member of a band called, The Dematrons in the 60's cutting a few records and opening for rock n rolls concerts. He was also a member of the Barber Quartet in Toms River. Tom attended LeTourneau college, where he studied the Bible and engineering. He entered the Maritime Industry, serving in the Coast Guard and Merchant Marines working for Mobile in the Seychelles in East Africa. Upon returning to Staten Island, Tom worked for the Staten Island Ferries as a Chief Engineer. Tom also worked alongside his father and brothers for the family business. Every Christmas Tom was a volunteer Santa in his community going from house to house dressed as Santa giving out presents. He really looked like a Santa he would grow a big white beard and keep his hair long. One summer at a family gathering he was sitting in the sunroom and his great niece Julianna who was about 3 years old walked up to him and quietly whispered to him I want a drum. Tom will be missed by many. Tom was active in churches throughout Staten Island and New Jersey. He was a member of Gideons International where he shared the gospel and distributed Bibles. Upon Tom's recent return to Staten Island, he attended Liberty View Baptist Church. Our family would like to thank everyone for your prayers, thoughts, visits, and phone calls. A private memorial and burial service will be held.
