O'Connell, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, who left us on July 5, 2025, at the Richmond University Medical Center. Born on December 8, 1970, in Brooklyn, NY, Thomas brought joy and laughter to everyone he encountered throughout his 54 years of life. Thomas was the beloved son of Patrick O'Connell and the late Margaret (nee Grady) O'Connell. He shared a profound bond with his parents and dedicated himself to caring for his mother during her final year, embodying love and compassion that will forever be remembered. He is survived by his loving father, Patrick; his brothers Michael, Patrick, and Matthew O'Connell; his sister Colleen Kelbaugh; and dear sisters-in-law Marjorie, Joy, and Sarah O'Connell. Thomas was also a proud and loving uncle to Alyssa, Michael Jr., Giana, Patrick Jr., Aidan, and Ciaran. Additionally, he is survived by a multitude of uncles, aunts, and dear cousins who will deeply miss his warm spirit. A lifelong auto mechanic, Thomas had a remarkable talent for building and fixing anything with his hands. He was also a skilled carpenter, known for his craftsmanship and ability to tackle any project that came his way. His love for cars and motorcycles was evident; Thomas was a true enthusiast who reveled in the thrill of speed and adventure. Beyond his mechanical talents, Thomas had a strong passion for music, particularly rock and rap. His eclectic taste mirrored his lively personality, and he often shared his favorite tunes with his family and friends, bonding over the power of songs that resonated with their experiences. Thomas had an unbreakable bond with his family dog, Chewy, and he was a lover of all animals. His kindness extended beyond his human relationships, showcasing a gentle spirit and a heart full of empathy. As we gather to honor his memory, friends and family are invited to a funeral service held on July 14, 2025, at 8:00 PM at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals Inc.
