Antonio Mazza

December 7, 1936 - March 21, 2022

Antonio Mazza, 85 of Staten Island, passed away Monday, March 21, 2022, at his home. Born Monday, December 7, 1936 in Sicily, Italy, he was the son of the late Giovanni Mazza and Carmela Arcidiacono Mazza. Antonio a dedicated worker spent many years as a longshoreman beofre his retirement. A man of devout faith, Antonio and his wife Josephine attended mass every morning. He was a proud member of the Divine Mercy group and spent many years in prayerful service. In his free time Antonio loved to garden, his vegetables were award winning and coveted among his family members. Antonio was a master in viniculture, and took great pride in growing and crafting his own wine. Among the many talents and skills Antonio possessed, His most cherished was dancing with his wife Josephine. Antonio and Josephine danced through life doing the Tango, and took every opportunity afforded to be in one another's arms. Well known among their friends for their dancing skills, Antonio and Josephine were acknowledged by 3 separate sets of friend's on one of their anniversary's with the same statue of Tango dancers, a true testament to their love of dance, as well as to each other. Antonio was a devoted family man and was truly Josephine's shadow, following her everywhere and into any adventure she wanted to explore. Antonio was the devoted husband of 53 years to Josephine. Loving father to John (Colleen), Marcello (Angela) and Carmela Moakley (Harold). Dear brother to Gaetano and Giuseppe. Cherished grandfather to Alexa, Danielle, Michael, John, Jenna, Patrick, Evelyn, Harold, Elizabeth, and Catherine. Doting great grandfather to Aiden and soon to be his expected great granddaughter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM on Friday at Our Lady Star of the Sea located at 5411 Amboy Road Staten Island, New York 10312. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 AM on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
