Arthur J. Clark

September 30, 1927 - June 15, 2021

Arthur J. Clark, 93 of Great Kills, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Staten Island University Hospital South. My grandfather, Arthur Clark (Papa) was born on September 30, 1927. The two of us shared the same birthday and always spent every single one together. He married my grandmother July 19, 1952 and were together for over 68 years. They had a son, Billy, and then ended up adopting my father from Ireland. Ireland was their favorite places and it was almost like they loved it so much they decided to bring home a permanent souvenir, a child. They raised their children in Long Island and Nana and Papa ended up moving to Staten Island years ago to be closer to my family. Papa was a WWII veteran and worked for the post office. He loved walking around and playing with Teddy, his grand pup. He enjoyed spending time with my sister and I as well as calling old people at the mall ‘old people’ even though he was older than all of them. He was the funniest guy I knew and the best grandfather anybody could ask for. Papa would always laugh at all of my jokes and he always found a way to make me feel special. Samantha Clark Arthur was the beloved husband to Catherine. Loving father to Gerard and the late Billy. Dear father-in-law to Teresa. Devoted grandfather to Amanda, Samantha and Kaitlin. Arthur is also survived by his cherished grandpup, Teddy. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2021, at the John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd. (at Eltingville Station), Staten Island, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at St Clare Church located at 110 Nelson Ave Staten Island, New York 10308. Interment with military honors follow in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY.
