Arturo F. Capili Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Arturo F. Capili, 80, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022 at Staten Island University Hospital. He and his devoted wife Victoria were married for 46 years and had two children, Emlyn and Eva. He was a beloved brother to Manolo Capili, the late Elesita Capili Llobrera, the late Dr. Rogel F. Capili, and the late Zenaida Capili Alota. He was a dear brother-in-law to Glenda Capili, Annabelle Capili, Felicidad Capili, Alberto Alota, and the late Guillermo Llobrera, as well as Isabel Agustin, the late Flor Nicolas, the late Rodolfo Gatchalian, and the late Leon Gatchalian. Arturo is also survived by loving nieces and nephews. Arturo was born on December 13, 1941 to Justo and Juanita Capili in Biñan, Laguna, Philippines. He graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1962. After working in Manila as a Certified Public Accountant for a few years, he immigrated to the United States in 1974. While living in Jersey City, he met through friends the love of his life, Victoria. They married in 1976, settled in Staten Island, New York in 1979, and remained borough residents for the rest of his life. He committed his time to working in accounting and sales and taking care of his daughters. Arturo loved watching old movies on the Turner Classic Movie network, James Bond and Star Wars movies, and Filipino teleseryes. He also enjoyed bowling, playing chess and mahjong, cheering on the New York Knicks, eating different cuisines, listening to music of his youth, and taking walks and long drives. He had interests in watercolor painting, dance, swimming, and journaling. He had a passion for singing and was proud to have been a member of the University of the Philippines Glee Club during his college years. He was a devout parishioner at Holy Child Church for many years. Visitation will be held from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at the John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York 10312. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Holy Child Church located at 4747 Amboy Road Staten Island, New York 10312. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery at 361 Sharrott Avenue, Staten Island, New York, 10309.
