January 2, 1930 - April 1, 2021
Benjamin Visceglia, 91, passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2021. Born Thursday, January 2, 1930 in New York, New York, he was the son of the late Dominick Visceglia and Benedetta Riviello Visceglia. Whenever someone recalls Benjamin, they will think of his kindness and generosity. Many will remember him for his dry sense of humor and quick wit. He was always ready for a trip to Atlantic City or a card game. He was an avid bowler as well! He enjoyed crosswords puzzles and always kept up with the latest technology. He enjoyed frequent visits to Ginos for some veal parmigiana with spaghetti. If there was an activity to take part in or a destination offered to travel, he took every opportunity to do it! When it came to his family, Benjamin was always quick with a comeback or unfiltered observation. He attended every school concert, play, and big event for his family. Whether it was helping to set up a classroom or meeting in the food court for lunch and some coffee, he was very active in his family's life. Coffee, cake, Italian ices...these were all common gatherings for his family in which he was a central figure. To his family, Benjamin was synonymous with music! He would often disappear from a room only to return with a harmonica or accordion for a family sing along. The organ was always on and ready for him to serenade us. As Benjamin would say, while putting on his Yankees baseball cap, ''Alright then..bye now..so long!'' Benjamin was the loving husband to the late Lillian, who predecased him in 1992, and the late Grace who predeceased him in 2020. Devoted father to Linda Ingravallo (Vito), Steven Visceglia (Tina) and Karen Fanizza (Bart). Fond step-father to Vincent Giunta (Erin), Sarah Jackson (Simon), and Barbara Passalacqua (Anthony). Benjamin was also the cherished grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Our Lady Star of The Sea Church located at 5411 Amboy Road Staten Island, New York 10312.
