September 2, 1945 - July 30, 2021
Brian K. Murphy, Sr. passed away peacefully on Friday, July 30, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Brian was born in Brooklyn on September 2, 1945. He was a proud veteran who served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1963-1968. Brian, fondly known as ''The Sheriff,'' worked for over thirty years for the New York City Sheriff's Department, retiring proudly as a lieutenant. In his final years, Brian loved going out to dinner with his family, laughing and celebrating with friends, donating to his favorite charities, and most of all, keeping up with his favorite H.S. football team, New Dorp's Central Cougars. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his loving children, Brian K Murphy Jr, and his wife, Lisa, Rose Frassetti and her husband, Carlo, and Marlo Kay and her husband, John; and his six grandchildren, Julia, Olivia, Jack, Amelia, Rachael, and Grace. Brian touched many lives with his generosity, humor, and affectionate personality. He will be dearly missed. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at the John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd. (at Eltingville Station), Staten Island, New York. A Sharing of Memories will take place be at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Funeral Home. The Funeral Procession will be departing the Funeral Home on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. for Brian's interment at Resurrection Cemetery with Military Honors. Everyone who remembers ''The Sheriff'' is asked to celebrate his life by raising a glass of their favorite drink in his memory at his favorite restaurant, Joyce's Tavern, immediately following the burial at Resurrection Cemetery. A New York State decision that those who are vaccinated are no longer required to wear masks. However, our staff who have serviced over 350 covid funeral services safely will wear masks to protect those who have not been vaccinated or those who feel uncertain and our own families. We feel this is necessary because we have handled 8 covid deaths in the month of May and more as of this writing of June 21st. Due to the current pandemic circumstances please note: We ask that you please send bakery products, fruit baskets, and other personal items to the families home directly. Floral Arrangements can be purchased from our in-house floral designers by calling 718-948-2016 to place your order or to request a catalog of selections that can be emailed to you.
