Catherine I. Gialella

July 31, 1934 - March 14, 2022

Catherine Gialella 87, of Hugenot passed away at home on March 14, 2022. Catherine was born in 1934 in the West Village, Manhattan to the late Helen & William Foy. She moved to Staten Island in 1963 with her young family. She was a devout catholic & longtime parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Hugenot. Catherine enjoyed family trips to Atlantic City & summer vacations in Long Beach Island, N.J. She enjoyed her weekly bowling league and time with close friends. For over 20 years Catherine was a treasured volunteer in the Medical Library at the former Bailey Seton Hospital. Catherine was loved by all and will be dearly missed. She was the beloved wife of 65 years to John Gialella Jr., Loving sister in law to Richard Gialella, Loving mother to John M. Gialella & wife Wenche, Janice Buckley & partner Tom Donohue, Nancy Quin & husband Zeke, Tracy Tremer & husband Tom, along with four cherished grandchildren , John Gialella, Karine Gialella, T.J. Tremer & Danielle Halleran & loving Aunt to Kristin Gotta & Great Aunt of Riley Gotta. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2022, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church located at 5411 Amboy Road Staten Island, New York 10312. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.
