Clare Ann Menehan

December 10, 1924 - March 2, 2022

Clare Ann Menehan (nee Connor) was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 10, 1924. She was the seventh of eight children born to Joseph Connor and Catherine McCormack all of whom have predeceased her. Clare spent the majority of her life in Brooklyn until she moved to Staten Island in December 2016. Clare married Matthew Menehan on September 3, 1949 who predeceased her on July 4, 1997. Clare and Matt enjoyed a wonderful life together. They both played tennis and Clare continued to play the sport until her early 80's. She loved to shop and was always buying things for her children and grandchildren. She was also fairly well traveled and took many wonderful vacations with Matt. She had a career in the banking industry for many years as a Supervisor in the Proof and Transit Dept. of HSBC Bank. She also enjoyed many cultural events such as Broadway shows. Clare was beautiful inside and out and was loved by everyone who knew her. She is survived by 2 daughters- Jane Collier and her husband Gary of Staten Island, NY and Cathy Ferguson and her husband Dan of Longmont, CO; five grandchildren- Alline Collier (Robert), Danielle Miller (Robert), James Ferguson (Erica), Brian Collier (Jennifer) and Collette Crigger (Chris). She is also survived by one great granddaughter, Sonia Jane Collier, and numerous nieces and nephews spanning 3 generations. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2022, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Holy Child Church located at 4747 Amboy Road Staten Island, New York 10312. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.
