Eileen R. Mutkoski

June 4, 1931 - September 2, 2020

Eileen Regis Mutkoski passed away peacefully on September 2, 2020 at the age of 89 in Staten Island, NY. Eileen was born in Brooklyn on June 4th, 1931 to James and Anna Zaib. Eileen was predeceased by her husband, Robert Stephen Mutkoski. She is survived by her five children and their spouses: James and Joanne Mutkoski, Joyce and Joseph Mattera, Linda and Paul Tallaksen, Stephanie Valeiko and Warren Searles, and Timothy and Mechelle Mutkoski, as well as many grandchildren, including Jason and his wife Kendra, Justin and his wife Heather, Rebecca, Andrew, Rachel, Sarah, Charissa, Elizabeth, Arianna, Kirsten, Jacob, Patrick, Gianna and Luca. Eileen was also blessed with eight great grandchildren, Judah, Levi, Asher, Ava, Lexi, Elle, Hunter and Olivia. Eileen was a graduate of Fordham University with a degree in Mathematics, and more significantly was a member of Fordham's first graduating class that allowed women. She leveraged her passion and skill for math and teaching throughout her life, first as an elementary school teacher and later as a tutor and mentor. Eileen and her husband loved the sea, perhaps starting before their hurricane honeymoon in Greenport, Long Island, through many family beach trips culminating in their purchase of ''a house by the sea'' in Connecticut overlooking the Long Island Sound - where there was always a beautiful ocean view, light house, or sail boat as decor to admire. The corner stones of her life were to have a big family and ''that God would provide''- she leaves a legacy that embodies both. Visitation will be held at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals located at 28 Eltingville Blvd., Staten Island, NY on Tuesday, September 8th from 5:00- 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place in the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eileen will be laid to rest with her husband at The State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown, CT on Wednesday, September 9th. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eileen's memory may be made to Children of the City www.childrenofthecity.org http://www.childrenofthecity.org or Disabled American Veterans https://www.ihelpveterans.org/
