Grace Mary Liguori Meter, age 66, of Staten Island, New York, passed away peacefully on early Sunday morning, December 13,2020 at Eger Healthcare where she resided since August 2001. Grace was born May 5,1954 to Dominick and Mildred (Ferrando) Liguori in Brooklyn, New York. She was a graduate of St. Ephrem's School in Brooklyn, St. Joseph by the Sea High School and Wagner College, both in Staten Island. Grace received her degree in microbiology and pursued her early career in hospital and clinical laboratories prior to her being diagnosed with the crippling disease of multiple sclerosis (MS) that she lived with for over thirty-five (35) years. A person of tremendous faith and love of God, Grace never complained about her illness as always stating ''It is God's will.'' She is now at peace in Heaven totally healed from MS and now dancing, singing and running praising God while no longer depending on her wheelchair. Grace leaves behind a positive love to all lives that she touched. Grace is survived by her daughter Kimberly Meter, who she loved unconditionally, and her partner Brian Dunbar of Staten Island, NY; her brother James Liguori and his wife Tina of Hermitage, PA; sister-in-law Connie Liguori of Hermitage, PA; Cousin Marion Limongelli of Staten Island who was like Grace's big sister and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and her many friends and Eger Healthcare family. For over thirty years, Grace, Tina and her early caretaker Chrissie got into more trouble hiding things from Jim. We all cherish those memories and would not trade them. Grace was loved tremendously by her family who will miss her loving personality. In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by her oldest brother Dominic Liguori, Cousin Gene Limongelli who she loved dearly and her Godparents Frank and Rose Tortorici. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Eger Healthcare and the Visiting Nurses/Hospice Care Unit for their love and kindness in her caring over the years and especially in 2020. Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 17,2020 at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc. 28 Eltingville Blvd., S.I.N.Y 10312 from 5-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 18,2020 at Holy Child Church located at 4747 Amboy Road, Staten Island, NY 10312. Burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island. Memorial contributions in Grace's name can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org ), National Multiple Sclerosis Society (www.nationalmssociety.org/Donate ) or a charity of your choice. Please be mindful due to the current State mandate that a mask must be worn at all times in the funeral home and social distancing requirements must be followed during the services. Due to the current Pandemic a strict 30 person in room policy is in effect, as well as a maximum of 150 people permitted in Church. Please adhere to this policy and allow others to pay their respects as well. Floral Arrangements can be purchased from our in house floral designers who work under the most stringent sanitary conditions which include temperature checks, mask wearing, distancing and protective clothing.
