Helen Brennan, 91 of Eltingville, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021, at her home. Born Saturday, July 26, 1930 in Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of the late Michael Foley and Mary O'Connell Foley and the youngest of 6 children. Following High School, Helen worked as a secretary for the Grace Line Cruise Ship Company leaving in 1958 to start her family. Helen's approach to life was very much a result of a childhood spent growing up during the Great Depression and pre-teen and teen years spent on the World War Two home front while two of her brothers fought overseas. A devout Catholic, her faith sustained her during good times and bad and no sacrifice was too great for her family. Helen enjoyed classic movies and was a lifelong NY Yankees fan and an avid reader. She was a parishioner at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Huguenot for over 60 years. Helen was the beloved wife of 53 years to Edward ''Eddie'' Brennan who she married in 1955 and who predeceased her in 2008. Loving mother to Michael, James, Helen and the late Maryann. Cherished mother-in-law of Betty and Marilyn. Dear sister to Margie Smith and predeceased by siblings Michael, Ray, William, and sister Helene Foley S.C.C. Helen is also survived by many other loving family members and friends. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Monday, December 27, 2021, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church located at 5411 Amboy Rd Staten Island, New York 10312. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Helen's name be made to the Sisters of Christian Charity (Scceast.org)
