James M. Casella

June 7, 1942 - January 27, 2021

James M. Casella, age 78, passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2021. Jim's battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in the face of life's challenges. He was the beloved husband of Mary Anne Casella (nee Debo), Proud and devoted father of Denise and her husband Shawn and Jason and his wife Bridget. Cherished grandfather of Massimo, Ella and Octavia and dear brother of Robert and Lorraine Casella. Jim is also survived by his dear nieces, their husbands and children. Employed by National Grid for 47 years, Jim treasured the life-long friendships he made in the company. Jim served in the Marine Corps for four years. He enjoyed sports in general, especially the NY Yankees. He also loved going out to eat, traveling and spending time with family. Jim was a kind and caring man who adored his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. A Funeral Service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2021, at the funeral home.
