JoAnn Messina Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

JoAnn Messina, 92, of Staten Island, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021, at Eger Nursing Home in Staten Island, New York. Born on December 13, 1928 in Lucca Sicula, Sicily, JoAnn was one of six siblings born to the late Calogero and Angelina Sferlazza. In her early 20�s, JoAnn immigrated to the United States, where she met her husband, James Messina and settled in Brooklyn, NY. JoAnn was a devoted wife to her late husband, James Messina. She was a loving sister to Teresa Marrazzo and the late Sam Sferlazza, Lucca Sferlazza, Rosalia Sferlazza and Alfonso Sferlazza. JoAnn was a beloved Aunt to Alphonse and Felice Marrazzo and daughter Jennifer. She was affectionately known as Aunt JoAnn to the entire Marrazzo Family and the Angelo Family. Her other nieces and nephews included, Charlie Sferlazza, Carla and Alfred Alaimo, Dolly and Paolo Rao, Angela and Dominick Passarelli, Charles Sferlazza, Leny and Victoria Sferlazza, Angie Sferlazza, Lilo Sferlazza, Nino Sferlazza, Angela Sferlazza, Danine Some and all of their families. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday at St Clare Church located at 110 Nelson Ave Staten Island, New York 10308. Interment will be in Canarsie Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
