Life long Staten Islander, John Colandrea, 77 of Eltingville, passed on Friday, October 9, 2020, at Memorial Sloann Kettering Hospital. Born Wednesday, February 24, 1943, he was the son of the late John and Eva Colandrea. He was the beloved husband of Madeline Colandrea, nee Graham. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. John worked for the Board of Education as a custodial engineer. Before his retirement in 2002 the last school he tended to was PS 41. He was a family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren. Some of John's favoirte pastimes included hunting, fishing and boating. He also enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City and Aruba. John enjoyed watching television and going out to dinner with family and friends. John is survived by his beloved wife Madeline. His daughters Dawn Torcivia (Anthony) and Gina Gragnaniello (Carmine), his sister Cheryl Martin, 5 grandchildren Anthony, Joseph, Carissa, Christina and Michael, and his nephews Scott and Gary Martin. A Funeral service will be at 4:00 PM on Monday at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc. located at 28 Eltingville Blvd Staten Island, New York 10312. Arrangements include private cremation. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Monday, October 12, 2020, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. Please be mindful due to the current State mandate that a mask must be worn at all times in the funeral home and social distancing requirements must be followed during the services. Due to the current Pandemic a strict 40-50 person in room policy is in effect, please adhere to this policy and allow others to pay their respects as well.
