Joseph LoMonaco, Sr.

March 7, 1957 - April 12, 2021

Joseph LoMonaco, born March 7th, 1957, passed away April 12th, 2021, at the age of 64 peacefully at home in Barnegat, NJ. The eldest child of his family, Joseph was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, to his parents Frank and Dorothy LoMonaco, along with his two sisters, Dorothy and Susan, and younger brother Frank. Joe spent 33 years with the Department of Sanitation and was part of NYCs Department of Sanitation 9/11 recovery efforts. He retired in 2013 after developing leukemia due to exposure to WTC chemicals. Joe was beloved by everyone, his friends, his co-workers, his neighbors, but most of all, his family. He was a proud father to his two children, Jenna and Joseph, and was a loving husband, married to his wife Joanne for over 40 years. He loved baseball (The Yankees), football (The Giants), fishing, riding his Harley, and above all, his family. Joe defied the odds. Many doctors called him a miracle man. He fought hard every day just to have more time on this earth with his family. His strength is an inspiration to us all and we will carry that strength and his love in our hearts forever. A Funeral service will be at 9:30 AM on Saturday at St. Thomas The Apostle Church located at 6135 Amboy Rd Staten Island, New York 10309. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday, April 16, 2021, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. Please be mindful due to the current State mandate that a mask must be worn at all times and social distancing will be required when in the funeral home.
