Joseph Santangelo

Joseph A. Santangelo of Brooklyn, New York passed away on December 4th, 2021. He was 70 years old. Joseph grew up in Coney Island in the 1950s and 60s, surrounded by his loving parents, Anthony and Pearl, who predeceased him, his brother, Anthony, and many family members and close friends. He served in the United States Army from 1970-1973, during which time he deployed to Vietnam as part of the 1st Aviation Brigade. Later, he worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs and as a schoolbus driver. Joseph's partner of over twenty years, Eileen Fitzgerald, passed away in September. Joseph is survived by his three children, Christina Borris and Noah, Daniella Giammarino and Frank, and Joseph Santangelo and Sharon; their mother, Dina; his grandchildren, James, Matthew, Hannah, Frankie, Stella, Sienna, and Joseph; and his brother, Anthony Santangelo and Jimmy. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather. He will forever be in our hearts. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 AM on Thursday at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church located at 90 Third Street Staten Island, New York 10306. Interment will be in Moravian Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
