Josephine Quinn

December 23, 1924 - December 16, 2021

Josephine Quinn, 96 of Staten Island, New York passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021. Born Tuesday, December 23, 1924, in the Greenwich Village Section of Manhattan, she was the daughter of the late Frank Ciuidanes and Josephine Parga Ciuidanes. Josephine graduated from Cathedral High School in Manhattan, while a member of St. Veronica Parish, where she attended grammar school. Josephine met and later married her husband George here at the teen club. Josephine and George married in 1947. Josephine worked for Standard Brands Inc. and Union Carbide & Carbon Corp. in their International Divisions before leaving to raise her family in 1954. Josephine spent many years summering in Midland Beach, before moving to Staten Island in 1957. In 1978, she rejoined the work force to work at the former Staten Island Hospital for 21 years in various capacities, but finally as a financial interviewer. While living is Staten Island, Josephine was a parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. George and Josephine renewed their vows for their 50 year anniversary in 1997. Josephine's husband George passed away 2000 after 53 years of marriage. Josephine was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She loved dancing and listening to big band music. Josephine was an active member of the Mt. Loretto Friendship Club and the Tottenville AARP. Josephine was the loving mother to JoAnne Smith and George Quinn, she was predeceased by the late Karen Quinn, Elaine Quinn, Thomas Quinn and Nancy Battcock. Cherished grandmother to her 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Josephine was predeceased by her grandson Gregory. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church located at 5411 Amboy Rd Staten Island, New York 10312. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
