Marie Catalosi

February 9, 1952 - January 16, 2022

Marie Catalosi, 69, of Eltingville, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her adoring family on Sunday, January 16, 2022. Born Saturday, February 9, 1952 in Caulonia Marina, Calabria, Italy and she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Angela Garuccio. She and her family came to the United States in 1958 when she was just 6 years old. She attended Regina Pacis Grammar School, Bay Ridge High School and a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology with a Bachelor's degree in Textile Design which she was very proud of and got to work in the industry which she truly enjoyed. She was the most beloved wife of Eduardo Catalosi, wrapped in a romance that would span over fifty years in length. After marrying in 1972, Marie and Eduardo were eager to start their own family and delighted in the birth of their three children, Christine, Sandra and Charles. Marie and Eduardo have two loving granddaughters Charley Rose and Cecily Marie, who have been the absolute light of Marie's life, will undoubtedly carry on their grandmother's legacy to future generations. Marie was the embodiment of creativity. Whether it was cooking for her family, baking her delicious Christmas cookies, or using her eye for design in painting or gardening, the acts of creating and appreciating art were integral to the way Marie lived her life. She also loved traveling; especially returning to Italy and seeing her family as well as taking trips to Atlantic City. Marie will be missed by so very many. She is survived by her loving husband Eduardo; her children, Christine (John) Rossi, Sandra and Charles (Catherine); her sisters, Eleanora Zielinski and Anna Mallia; her granddaughters Charley Rose and Cecily Marie; many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins both in Italy as well as stateside. Whomever Marie seemed to touch in life will remember her fondly as a woman who cherished her family above all else. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022 at St Clare Church, located at 110 Nelson Ave, Staten Island, New York 10308. Interment to follow will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.
