Mary Coppola
December 1, 2021
Mary Coppola passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. She was born to the late Dominick and Maria Graziano in Brooklyn, NY. Over the years, Mary had lived in Brooklyn, NY, Staten Island, NY, and Boynton Beach, FL. In 1940, Mary graduated from Bay Ridge High School before going to work as a secretary with MetLife. Eventually, Mary met and fell in love with her late husband of 25 wonderful years, Francis Coppola. Once married, Mary turned her attention to her family and home. She loved to cook and entertain her loved ones, but would also enjoy spending time with a good book when she was able. Those who knew Mary would confidently describe her as an unselfish person who would continually put the needs of those she cared for above her own. As a woman of fierce and determined faith, she prayed her rosary daily. Mary was an institution and will be incredibly missed. Mary has gone to join her family in heaven, including her cherished parents, beloved husband, brothers Joseph, Alfonso, and Vincent Graziano, as well as sisters Carmela Bova and Rose Graziano. Carrying on Mary's legacy are her daughter Louise (Basil) Scaffidi, granddaughter Dr. Francine (Dr. Herman Katz) Scaffidi-Katz, and great grandson Hunter Francis Katz. The family will receive friends for a memorial gathering from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a prayer service to be held from 2:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
