Mary T Mancini, 91, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at The Addeo Hospice Residence surrounded by her loving family. Born Tuesday, August 12, 1930 in Manhattan, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale Mancini and the late Teresa Quattrucci Mancini. Mary worked as a keypunch operator at Metropolitan Life until her mid-50s while taking college courses in a vast array of interests for many years. After her retirement, she remained active as a docent for the Staten Island Zoo and The Chinese Scholar Garden at Sailor Snug Harbor. She was the loving sister to Valentine Mancini. Dear sister-in-law to Renee Mancini. Devoted aunt to Lauriann Castrogiovanni and Vince Mancini. Cherished great aunt to Sophie Mancini, Julien Buron and Luca Castrogiovanni. Beloved aunt-in-law to Martin Castrogiovanni and Esther Mancini. Mary enjoyed gardening and crafting and over the years learned a variety of arts and crafts including painting, pottery, and stained glass. She enjoyed macrame and learned to operate ham radio. Her greatest joy was her niece and nephew and their families. She had been a frequent caretaker of her niece and nephew, and was an enormous influence for them both. She later cared for her great-niece on many occasions, and committed to caring for each of her great-nephews one day a week during their early years. She enjoyed travel and some of her most memorable trips were to Italy and China with her nephew Vince. She lived with her niece Lauriann and family for the last two months of her life surrounded by love, good food, and family. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Monday, December 13, 2021, at he John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd. (at Eltingville Station), Staten Island, New York. Family and friends will gather at the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. A Prayer Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peters Cemetery located at Bement Ave. & Clove Road Staten Island, New York 10301.
