Mary E. Murphy

June 18, 1935 - April 14, 2022

Mary E. Murphy, 86 of Breezy Point passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Brooklyn on Tuesday, June 18, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Timothy Joseph and Mary Frances Coan Fitzgerald. Mary was a woman who was devoted to her faith and it only fitting that she passed on Holy Thursday . After raising her 7 children she went on to obtaining her Master's Degree and began a long and fulfilling career in the education field. She taught at St. Camillus, P.S 207, St. Agnes Seminary and finished her career at Stella Maris High School. She was devoted to her family, and taught them the values of Faith, Family and Education. She cherished time spent with her immediate and extended family., whether it be at the beach, on special occasions or Holidays. She hardly ever missed attending a family celebration for a birthday, graduation or reception of a Sacrament. She enjoyed life and the simple pleasures it offered. She was Member of the Board of Directors of the Rockaway Point Association, a member of the Golden Age Club and a master at chair yoga. Mary was the beloved wife to her late husband Jeremiah who passed away in 2006. She was the loving mother to Eugenia Murphy - Kyle and her husband Robert, Jeremiah and his wife Tricia, Michael, Matthew and his wife Theresa , Dr. Christopher Murphy D.P.M. Mary Beth Murphy, Dr. Elizabeth Murphy D.P.M. and her wife Christine Fisher. Dearest sister of Timothy Fitzgerald and his wife Antoinette, Elizabeth Fitzgerald and her late husband John, Thomas and his late wife Maryann, she was pre-deceased by her brother John and his late wife Eileen. . Mary was the cherished grandmother to her 14 grandchildren and her one great grandchild. She will also be fondly remembered by her many loving, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at St. Edmund's Church l 215-10 Oceanside, Breezy Point NY. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at The Denis S O'Connor Funeral Home, 91-05 Beach Channel Dr., Far Rockaway, New York.
