Mary Sprague of Huguenot passed away suddenly on Sunday January 3, 2021. Born in Brooklyn to the late Charles and Bridget Doherty. Mary was a graduate of Catherine Mc Cauly High School. She was a member of the Mermaids of Staten Island, a volunteer for over 40 years at Our Lady Star of the Sea, as well as a volunteer at St. Joseph by the Sea High School for over 20 years. She also serves as a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady Star of the Sea. Mary loved to host, and placed everyone before herself. She never turned a soul away. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. She never said a bad word about anyone; she left that to her husband Bob. She will be missed by many. She is survived by her devoted husband of fifty four years Bob, Her loving children; Mary Pat Perrone, Robert, Daniel, John, Kathleen, Michael, Kelly and Timothy, her 16 cherished grandchildren who affectionately called her Mema, and her two brothers Charles and Daniel Doherty. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Friday from 5-9 pm at the John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals Inc. 28 Eltingville Blvd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday beginning at 10:15 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. Committal services will be private.
