Ralph D'Elia

Ralph D'Elia of Annadale, passed away at home on Sunday January 16, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Manhattan to the late Vincenzo and Rosa D'Elia, Ralph grew up in the Woodside section of Queens. At the age of 19 he began working for the Transit Authority retiring out of the West Side Depot in Manhattan as a supervisor. He quickly grew bored with retirement and began a second career with the Transit Authority at the Castleton Avenue Depot until his retirement in 2017. Ralph was a graduate of Aviation High School in Queens and then went onto NYC Community College where he earned his Associates Degree. Ralph was a fixer of cars and a avid cyclist. He was a Biathlon athlete in running and biking. He showed his affection for people by giving them a bicycle.... which meant he liked you. Ralph even built cars from the ground up, often swapping parts from one car to another. He enjoyed all sports but truly enjoyed watching football and horse racing. He also enjoyed fine arts and would often accompany his companion Pearl to museums and galleries throughout the City. Ralph was the loving father of Jennifer Pietrunti, Daniel and Christopher. Dearest brother of Maria Di Salvo and Tony. Cherished grandfather of Olivia, Charlotte, Declan, Juliette, Christopher and Cali. He is also survived by his dear companion Pearl Fuhr, and Jean Mc Dermott , his children's mother. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Thursday from 2-5 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. at The John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc. 28 Eltingville Blvd. Staten Island NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday at the Church of the Holy Child at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
