Raymond C. Wood, Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Raymond "Pop-Pop" Wood Jr, 72 of Woodrow, also affectionately known to his family and friends as Reg, Papa Lo and Uncle Calippo, passed away in the early morning of October 10th 2020 surrounded by his family at home. Raymond was a proud Vietnam combat veteran serving in the US Army/Air Force. He was also a proud highly decorated veteran of the New York City Police Department where he attained the rank of Detective. He loved golf and travel, but his other true passion was being a chef and he loved to cook Sunday dinners for his family. Raymond served his country and city with pride and integrity, but his one true love was always for his family. He is survived by his wife, Lois Marie DiGianni Wood with whom he recently celebrated a 50 year anniversary in July, and his three children, Raymond Wood III, Lois Crispino and Michelle Grima and their spouses Jamie Lynn Wood, Vincent Crispino and Richard Grima. Raymond is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Raymond Wood IV, Brandon Wood, Megan Wood, Richard Grima, Michael Grima, Nicholas Crispino and Cody Van Nortwick as well as his Great Granddaughter Ezili Van Nortwick. He is also survived by his two brothers and numerous nieces and nephews with whom he was very close to. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd. (at Eltingville Station), Staten Island, New York. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Star of The Sea Church located at 5371 Amboy Rd Staten Island, New York 10312. Cremation will be private. The family is asking that in lieu of flowers or gifts a donation be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association, online at https://www.lbda.org/donate/ Please be mindful due to the current State mandate that a mask must be worn at all times in the funeral home and social distancing requirements must be followed during the services. Due to the current Pandemic a strict 40-50 person in room policy is in effect, please adhere to this policy and allow others to pay their respects as well.
