Alice Basso

Alice Basso, 91 of Brooklyn, New York passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021, peacefully at her home. Born Tuesday, August 13, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late George Lohmuller and Margaret (Klemm) Lohmuller. Alice worked as an administrative assistant for an insurance agency. Alice was the loving mother to Patricia Cannon, Eileen O'Connor, and Debbie Henry. Fond mother-in-law to Mike, and the late Tom and Paul. Cherished grandmother to Robbie and Tommy. Doting great grandmother to Ryan In her free time Alice enjoyed swimming, playing bingo, and bowling. She also enjoyed going to Atlantic City to play the slot machines, scratch offs and playing cards with her friends. Alice cherished going on vacation, especially with her daughters and sons-in-law. She was also great at doing the Lindy dance. Alice would advise others to: Travel while you can and Take it one day at a time. Alice also loved little ditties: Whatcha gonna do when your eyes are blue. I had a hat when I came in, I'll have a hat when I go out. Get off the table Mabel, two bucks for the beer. IN YOUR HAT!! Most of all, Alice loved to laugh. She was joyful and very special. Alice was love by all. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 10:30 PM on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. A Funeral service will take place at 10:30 AM on Saturday at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc. located at 28 Eltingville Blvd Staten Island, New York 10312. Interment will be in Ocean view Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. A New York State decision that those who are vaccinated are no longer required to wear masks. However, our staff who have serviced over 350 covid funeral services safely will wear masks to protect those who have not been vaccinated or those who feel uncertain and our own families. We feel this is necessary because we have handled 8 covid deaths in the month of May and more as of this writing of June 21st Due to the current pandemic circumstances please note: We ask that you please send bakery products, fruit baskets, and other personal items to the families home directly.
