Arthur John Gale

Arthur John Gale, 72 of Annadale, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at Staten Island University Hospital -South surrounded by the love of his family. Born Saturday, September 13, 1947 in Edinburgh, Scotland, he was the son of the late Arthur Gale and the late Mary Ann (Strathearn) Gale. Arthur immigrated to the United States with his family in 1962 at the age of 15. In 1966 Arthur joined the US Army and fought bravely for his New Country during the Vietnam War, earning the National Defense Service Medal and Sharpshooter Rifle Medal. Following his service, Arthur became a Tractor Trailer Driver, driving Big Rigs all over the country for work. Arthur met and wed his wife of 39 Years Mary Ann (Nee Buonincontri) and the two started their adventure together. Arthur was a kind soul, always putting others needs before his own, his wife would say he was the type of man to give you the shirt off his back. On top of being kind Arthur was a ''Neat Freak'', he was meticulous about having everything clean, ''A place for everything, and everything in its place'' was a motto that Arthur lived by, and no one in his eyes could get it clean enough. Arthur loved the outdoors, fishing, camping, and spending time with family around the campfire. He loved the ocean, and being out on his boat with his wife and children. When not enjoying the outdoors, Arthur was a tinkerer and handyman in his garage, building furniture and gadgets for around the home. Arthur the unofficial family photographer was always taking pictures, candid and posed at family events. He made sure to always have the right camera to catch the perfect angle. Arthur was the consummate Jokester of the family, pulling pranks on everyone, he always had a smile on his face and would ensure that those around him were smiling too. A lover of Music Arthur could be found out on the dance floor at family parties. Arthur most cherished his family above everything, his wife and children were his world, and his shining personality spread outwards to his close and extended family and friends alike. At the age of 65, after 53 years of smoking, Arthur joined what he considered one of his greatest accomplishments, Nicotine Anonymous, A life long smoker, Arthur finally conquered his vice and in the process built a lasting friendship with his pal Saul Spetler, a relationship he cherished until the end. Devoted husband of 39 years to Mary Ann Gale. Loving father of Nicole Paris and Alyssa Lee Gale. Dear father in law of Rodrigo Paris. Adored brother of Emma Buonincontri and her husband the late Louis Buonincontri, and the late Elizabeth Rose Nisbet and her husband Neil V. Nisbet Sr.. Cherished grandfather of John Michael Lotito, Brianna Nicole Paris and Isabella Alexandra Paris. Doting uncle of Lynda Buonincontri, Debra Buonincontri, Donna Ciccotto, Tracy Ferguson, Sean Nisbet, and the late Neil V. Nisbet Jr.. Great uncle of Deanna Stegman -his God Daughter, Emily Elizabeth Ferguson, Clarissa Ciccotto, Christina Ciccotto, and Jack Ferguson. Beloved friend, confidant second father and honorary husband to many of MaryAnn's friends, Arthur was a man of many titles and lived up to each and everyone one of them with love honor and integrity. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 am on Friday January 31, 2020, at Holy Child Church located at 4747 Amboy Rd. Staten Island, New York 10312. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York.
