Barbara A. Byrnes

Barbara A. Byrnes, 79 of Staten Island, New York passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. Born Sunday, October 25, 1942 in Staten Island, New York, she was the daughter of the late Charles Tracy and Ruth Meeker Tracy. Barbara as a young girl especially enjoyed participating in archery with her beloved father Charles until his untimely passing in 1955. He would call her his little buddy. Barbara married her high school sweetheart Danny Venditti in 1964. They had two children together, Donna and Danny. 1n 1968 together they successfully opened Rustic Music Center. They had many happy memories there as a family. Their marriage ended in divorce but continued to enjoy watching their family grow to 5 grandchildren. Barbara found love again, and in 2002 married John Byrnes. They both had many happy times together through their marriage. They especially enjoyed gardening together and entertaining their family in their beautiful backyard. John passed away in 2019. Barbara was an amazing example to her children and grandchildren in many areas. She had an amazing work ethic that was evident to all, especially her former employers. Barbara began her career as a book keeper. One of her most cherished positions was as the bookkeeper at an adult living facility, New Broadview Manor. Barbara always lent a listening ear and words of encouragement to the residents. Barbara would open her home for dinner to someone that especially was lonely. She even would take them shopping and sometimes pay if they were in a bad way. Barbara's sense of humor, generous heart and caring nature was visible to all that met her. She had a zest for life combined with an amazing free spirit. Barbara was always the first one out on the dance floor at a party, and the last one to exit. Barbara's absolute pride and joy was her family. She especially enjoyed cooking fabulous meals, and having her children and grandchildren at her home. She will be missed by all that adored and loved her. Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Daniel Venditti and the late John Byrnes. Loving mother to Donna Thompson (Chip) and Danny Venditti (Terri). Cherished grandmother to Charlie Thompson (Meagan), Cassie Thompson (Claran), Donato Venditti, Gabriella Venditti, and Lorenzo Venditti. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York. A Funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals.
