Carol A. Mangano

Carol A. Mangano, 81 of Eltingville, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Staten Island University Hosptial. Born Wednesday, November 4, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York, she was the devoted daughter of the late Hugo DeBenedictis and the late Ann Onorata DeBenedictis. Carol began her career at the age of 20 as an executive secretary at the Moore McCormick Steamship company, In the 80's Carol was a Catalogue Operator for Sears, Roebuck and Company. In 1987 Carol became the co-owner of Ice Cream Delights, a popular ice cream parlor located inside the Showplace Bowling Alley, A business she ran for the next 10 years. Carol outside of work had many hobbies and interests. She loved talking on the phone, celebrity gossip one of her favorite topics, She enjoyed Walking on the Boardwalk, stopping along the way for Nathans Hot Dogs and Funnel Cakes. She loved dancing with her husband at every opportunity. Carol was an apt Shopper, QVC was one of her favorites, and anywhere she could get a great deal with her many coupons. Carol loved to travel with her husband especially to Florida to escape the New York Winters, she loved travelling to Italy and Hawaii as well as the many cruises she and her husband were on. Her favorite were her trips to their vacation home in the Poconos. Carol loved most spending time with her grandchildren, all of them were treated to every summer trips to Pt Pleasant Beach and the Coney Island Rides and Boardwalk, a great way to share some of her favorite traditions with them. She has left a legacy behind of many beautiful memories for the family to cherish and she will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. She was the beloved wife of Nicholas Mangano. Loving mother of Peter Mangano, Janine Guidetti, Nicole Pravata, and Gregg Mangano. Dear Mother in Law to Peter Guidetti and Danny Pravata. Cherished grandmother of Francesca & Nicholas Mangano, Peter, Kaitlyn, and Julianna Guidetti, Danny & Scarlett Pravata, and Michael Mangano. Dear sister of Elaine DeBenedictis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM on Wednesday at Holy Child Church located at 4747 Amboy Road Staten Island, New York 10312. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, New York Memorial contributions in loving Memory of Carol may be sent to Alzheimer's Association-NYC 225 N.
